Alstom has shipped the first Metropolis set of trains for Mexico's Guadalajara Metro Line 3 from the Santa Perpetua factory in Barcelona, Spain.
The trains are due to arrive in Mexico by the end of November, with 17 others to follow.

In November 2014, Mexico’s Federal Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) awarded a €380m contract to Alstom to supply electro-mechanical systems for Guadalajara Metro Line 3, including 18 Metropolis trains.
The 20.9km-long Line 3 is operated by the Sistema de Tren Electrico Urbano (SITEUR).
The metro will run along Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque and transport around 230,000 passengers a day.
As part of the contract, Alstom will also supply a communications-based train control (CBTC) system, which offers safety standards for the automatic drive and communication systems.

By GlobalDataThe Metropolis Metro trains each comprise three coaches and are equipped with air-conditioning, video surveillance and passenger information systems. They also offer improved access for disabled people.
Alstom’s lightweight Metropolis trains currently serve cities that include Singapore, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Panama and Amsterdam.
The company has sold more than 5,000 Metropolis cars worldwide.
Separately, Alstom has supplied the signalling solution and infrastructure to MTR’s 2.6km-long Hong Kong metro Kwun Tong Line extension as part of a project signed in 2012.
