Sany Group has completed machinery support for the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, East Africa's first modern electric railway. 

Sany supplied a total of 43 equipment sets that were used in construction of the project, including concrete machinery, road machines, excavators and cranes.

Construction period of the project lasted for 25 months. 

The standard-gauge railway runs 751.7km-long, linking Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and Djibouti, one of the largest modern ports in East Africa.

This is the second transnational railway constructed in the continent by a Chinese firm after the Tanzania-Zambia railway.

Sany entered the African market in 2002, and has supplied 120 units of heavy machinery, valued at more than $15m for Kenya's Mombasa-Nairobi Railway Project.
