Saudi Arabia’s Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) has completed the tunnel excavation works on Line Five, also known as the Green line of the Riyadh metro.

Green line is one of three being developed by FAST Consortium, one of the three international consortia commissioned to construct Riyadh metro. The 13km Green line runs underground within a bored tunnel along King Abdulaziz Road. It includes 11 deep underground stations and two transfer stations.

A full-size mock-up of Alstrom’s Metropolis train has also been launched and the company commenced construction of Yellow line track, which will be the first to be deployed.

In addition, Alstom is also delivering a fully integrated metro system, which includes Urbalis communication-based train control (CBTC) signalling solution, 69 Metropolis Trains, and the energy recovery system Hesop.
