Under the £50m project, a modern signalling system has been installed between Shotton and Colwyn Bay, and more than 6km of new track laid in Mostyn and track upgrade works took place in Rhyl and Flint.

The Abergele and Pensarn station underwent improvements, while the Tyn y Morfa level crossing has been upgraded to a manually controlled barrier with CCTV.

Network Rail said that works will continue in the coming months along the North Wales coast to remove old signalling equipment, including redundant cables, as part of the North Wales railway upgrade project.
