HSS Engineers Berhad’s (HEB Group) associate HSS Integrated (HSSI) has secured a contract to provide supervising consultancy services for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Package 1 in Malaysia.

The contract was awarded by China Communications Construction and is valued at MYR82.5m ($20.53m).

HSSI is set to provide supervising consultancy services for infrastructure works along the 231.5km ECRL Package 1 under the deal.

"Our works for ECRL will certainly play an integral role in realising the nation’s aspirations to generate economic development in the various regions of the country."

The contract is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018 following the commencement of the ECRL project’s construction stage.

Works are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.

HSS Engineers executive director Tan Sri Kuna Sittampalam said: “The supervising consultancy contract represents our further involvement in ECRL, as the momentous project progresses to the next critical stage of construction, from the preliminary design stage.”

The company was previously contracted as the design consultant for the scheme designs of ECRL phase 1 and phase 2.

It also secured a deal to provide preliminary design consultancy services for infrastructure works along 220km of the ECRL network.

Sittampalam added: “With this contract, we have secured close to MYR176m ($43.67m) in total contract value this year, exceeding the target of MYR150m ($37.21m) expected by the investing community.”
