These vehicles are capable of running on both the tram network and regional railway lines. Passengers will be able to reach the surrounding destinations directly without the need to change carriages.

They will be designed to fulfil regional requirements in Karlsruhe, south-west Germany, and ensure adaptation of existing infrastructure.

The floor height of the vehicles will be modified to enable swift access for passengers with reduced mobility or heavy luggage.

Furthermore, the 37m long FLEXITY trams will be equipped with a modern passenger information system and Wi-Fi services. All bogies will also feature air springs to provide increased passenger comfort.

Bombardier Light Rail Vehicles head Alexander Ketterl said: “We are proud that AVG will continue to rely on our dependable and easy-to-maintain FLEXITY trams in order to extend their transport service.”

The trams can accommodate up to 244 passengers and have seating arrangements for 93 people.
