CAF has secured four train maintenance contracts in Spain and Saudi Arabia with a combined value of more than €240m.
CAF has secured four train maintenance contracts in Spain and Saudi Arabia with a combined value of more than €240m.
The company has been selected by Spanish rail operator Renfe to maintain its Madrid commuter trains s/446 y CIVIA and medium distance regional trains s/596, s/596 y s/598.
CAF will carry out the maintenance works of these vehicles through Actren, its joint venture unit with Renfe. It will last for four years with the option of an additional year.
Actren has been associated with the maintenance of several Renfe fleets since its lauch in 2007.
CAF has also been contracted by Bilbao Metro in Spain to rehabilitate 218 bogies on 24 units of Series 500 trains. The contract term is for five years.
State-owned rail company Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has awarded a contract to CAF for the maintenance of 12 push-pull units operating on the Riyadh-Dammam line.
The company will also maintain the Saudi Railway Company’s (SAR) six push-pull units serving the Riyadh-Qurayyat line.
Both Saudi Arabian contracts will last for three years.
All the push-pull trains were supplied by CAF under earlier contracts with SRO and SAR.

CAF’s maintenance business is working to rehabilitate 6,200 railroad vehicles under more than 50 contracts across 13 countries.
The company’s maintenance business employs more than 2,300 people.
Dutch railway operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) placed a €400m order with CAF to procure 302 CIVITY platform passenger cars last month.
