Thailand’s Bangkok Mass Transit System Public (BTSC) has awarded a $287m contract to Bombardier Transportation for the maintenance of Bombardier Innovia monorail 300 systems.
The systems will be delivered for deployment into Thailand’s first two monorail lines, the Khae Rai to MinBuri pink line and LatPhrao to Samrong yellow line.
Bombardier will maintain monorail trains, including 288 cars, the system’s guideway switches and depot equipment.
The 20-year contract was announced by Bombardier Transportation in July, disclosing the name of BTSC.
BTSC chairman Khun Keeree Kanjanapas said: “Our focus is to ensure the highest levels of passenger safety, comfort and performance and this agreement ensures we will strengthen system performance by drawing on Bombardier’s expertise to provide full continuity between delivery and maintenance of our new iconic system.”
The Bombardier Innovia monorail 300 systems will be delivered to the Bangkok pink and yellow lines as part of two separate contracts signed between Bombardier Transportation, Northern Bangkok Monorail (NBM) and Eastern Bangkok Monorail (EBM) in August last year.
Bombardier Transportation Thailand managing director Gregory Enjalbert said: “This first long-term services contract for our Innovia monorail 300 system reflects the benefit we can bring to our customers throughout the full lifecycle of our systems, ensuring highest reliability and availability for the equipment maintained.”
Bangkok pink and yellow lines are expected to improve the commute experience for more than 400,000 people every day.
