Bombardier Transportation has received an order valued at $303m to supply 36 Francilien train sets comprising 270 cars to Greater Paris public transport authority, Île-de-France Mobilités.
The order, awarded by French national railway company SNCF and financed by Île-de-France Mobilités, is an update of the original contract, signed in 2006, involving the delivery of a maximum of 372 trains.

Under the new order, Bombardier will deliver 18 short train sets, totalling 126 cars, and 18 long train sets with 144 cars.
The short trains will operate on lines L and J, while the longer versions will run on line P.
Bombardier Transport France president Laurent Bouyer said: “This train, specially designed to meet the challenges of the dense and congested Transilien network, has proven its strengths.
“Fully adapted to this urban transportation ecosystem, it’s the most reliable fleet operating on the network.

Equipped with USB ports, new ergonomic handrails and large panoramic screens to provide information, the trains are designed to improve passenger comfort during journeys.
Each of these Francilien trains, featuring large seats, wide doors and open gangways, can accommodate up to 1,000 people. They have also been equipped with the latest energy-efficient technologies and enhanced security systems.
Île-de-France Mobilités has ordered 313 trains, 230 of which are currently in operation.
All trains under the order will be built at Bombardier’s facility in Crespin (Nord) in France.
