Alstom has commenced the dynamic testing of the first of 17 new Coradia trains intended for delivery to Algeria at the Velim railway test centre in the Czech Republic.
The tests are intended to enable Alstom to make final adjustments to the vehicles before they are delivered to SNTF in Algeria.

Velim test centre features a closed test circuit to facilitate the safe and efficient testing of locomotives.
The Coradia train will cover a distance of more than 30,000km during the two and a half month trial period, representing around 400 hours of dynamic testing with several repeated test steps.
Alstom is set to conduct traction trials, as well as test the brakes, safety features and acoustic equipment to evaluate their performances in accordance with the specifications of the SNTF contract.

A team of 14 Alstom engineers and technicians are also scheduled to be mobilised at the site during the test programme.
The new Coradia train has previously been subject to specific static tests to check its performance with regard to the local characteristics of Algeria, including sand tests, power and air-conditioning considerations.
The Coradia train will be delivered to the French test site at Bar-le-Duc following the test programme, where it will be used to train SNTF drivers and executives.
