FCM recently ordered six Jackson 6700S tampers from Harsco Track Technologies valued at more than US$2.5 million.
By May 1, 2005, Harsco will deliver the machines, which FCM plans to add to its rental fleet, and lease out on a short- or long-term basis during the 2005 track maintenance season.

“We have witnessed a lack of supply for production tampers this year, so we have stepped up to meet that need,” says FCM President and Chief Executive Officer Denny Gilstad in a prepared statement. FCM also recently secured a lease from German contractor Eichholz for a Harsco 20-stone “C” switch and crossing rail grinder.

The lessor will purchase the machine — the second C model Eichholz GMBH has leased from FCM — from Harsco for $5.3 million and take delivery in first-quarter 2005.
