Infotec has completed the first delivery from a total of over 120 passenger information displays...
The award is open to suppliers of equipment and services to the rail, light rail, underground, bus and roads sectors and Infotec understands hundreds of entries were received. Entrants were asked to demonstrate the transport benefits accrued from what they provide.
Infotec explained: "Display systems need to be cost-effective, appropriate to their environment in terms of size, appearance and function; energy-efficient, and information delivered and hardware maintained with minimum operator intervention.
"Established 21 years ago, the company has remained at the forefront through continual innovation.
"Today Infotec’s products are used to provide display solutions at overground, underground, bus and metro systems, at the last count more than 8,000 displays at over 1000 UK stations."
High profile projects with which Infotec has been involved over the past 12 months include King’s Cross London, Birmingham Gateway, Manchester Metro, Edinburgh Tram and Great Western high-speed stations among them Bristol Temple Meads, Exeter, Bath and Taunton.
The display range is fully designed and developed in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, allowing adaption of displays and systems to meet particular customer needs. "This can make the difference between a viable and a non-viable project at minimal additional cost," Infotec said in its award submission. "Whatever the need, Infotec always works to identify and deliver a solution."
Commenting on the awards, Patrick McLoughlin MP, UK Secretary of State for Transport, said: "The National Transport Awards are an opportunity to celebrate innovation and excellence across our transport sector, and to recognise industry professionals who go the extra mile to deliver efficient and effective transport across the country."
Supported by the Department for Transportation (DfT) and Passenger Focus, the award ceremony will take place at the Westminster Park Plaza, London on 17th October, hosted by Jeremy Vine. Infotec’s Managing Director Tim Court will be attending.
Short-listing in the National Transport Awards is Infotec’s second award achievement in this, the year of its 21st birthday. Last month it was presented with The Railtex Award for Station Facilities in recognition of its reputation for providing reliable, clear and informative display systems.
Commenting on the most recent achievement Tim Court said: "Infotec is delighted to have made it to the shortlist. We feel it acknowledges the fact that we have developed our business, products and services to not only meet the needs of the rail industry but also to provide solutions for a range of others in the transport sector."
Infotec Ltd. is based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch where it employs 36 people. It also provides display networking equipment, secondary steelwork and a full service of design, manufacture, supply, install and maintain. Infotec offers "the complete electronic display system solution for the transport sector".
