In addition to showcasing its full line of easily deployed and supported wireless mesh networking solutions, Rajant will showcase an innovative new rail car power generator.

Rajant Corporation, the pioneer of Kinetic Mesh Networks and provider of proven, multi-frequency mesh networking solutions, today announced that it will exhibit at the Railway Interchange 2013, taking place from September 29 through October 2, 2013 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Rajant will be part of the Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc. (RSSI) exhibit, in booth 3145.

As part of the company’s first rail-specific industry event, Rajant will demonstrate the powerful, flexible connectivity of its Kinetic Mesh Networking solutions, and will debut its newest product – Rail Power Generator (RPG). A low-cost, low-maintenance rail car power generator, RPG produces up to 50 watts of DC power from the wheel of a standard rail car. This power can be used to charge a battery system, which then can power multiple sensors and Rajant BreadCrumb wireless network nodes. Rajant BreadCrumb nodes are an ideal solution for modern rail communications needs, such as Positive Train Control, video monitoring, sensor networks and remote control at depots.

Rajant Corporation’s Kinetic Mesh Networking technology provides reliable, secure broadband connectivity in which reliability actually increases as the network grows. Rajant BreadCrumb nodes interact with the railroad data command center across a meshed, self-healing network to provide critical, real-time information that touches all aspects of railroad operations. The nodes rapidly adapt to any changes in the network topology, assuring that IP traffic uptime and bandwidth are maximized.

For freight operators, maintaining ideal rail velocity today requires a deft balance of human judgment, automation and information technology. Today’s freight lines rely heavily on wired and wireless networks to deliver a daunting array of data and communications – everything from equipment health monitoring, train speeds and locations, wheel sensors and freight status to weather conditions, fuel consumption, traffic optimization and more. In addition to providing real-time information to maximize velocity, much of this data is continuously analyzed to increase productivity and improve safety.

"As the scope, complexity and importance of railroad data increases, so does the need for high-availability, scalable broadband networks that are easily designed and deployed, and that are easier and less expensive to support," commented Rajant CEO Bob Schena.

"By empowering railroads to readily and reliably connect hundreds and thousands of moving assets, Rajant networks represent a critical link in the modern railroad value chain."

Rajant solutions are based on the proven reliability of Rajant BreadCrumb wireless, portable mesh networking nodes and InstaMeshsoftware, which enable continuous and instantaneous routing of wireless and wired connections. The Kinetic Mesh networks created by Rajant products allow for total network mobility, and this dynamic frequency utilization provides the ideal connectivity for any customer.

In addition to the Rajant Rail Generator, attendees of Railway Interchange 2013 can learn more about Rajant’s proven portfolio of networking solutions for the railroad, oil and gas, mining, military, first responder, municipalities, service provider and telco markets by visiting booth #3145.
