Trimble has released the Trimble® D2M rolling stock allocation and management system, which offers operators improved control over rolling stock resources for optimal utilisation and minimal disruption.

The D2M system manages rolling stock allocation and schedules to meet timetable and service requirements. With a single view, fleet controllers can allocate, deallocate, reallocate, swap and perform special traffic moves while receiving information from the operator’s maintenance management system.

Operational staff and maintenance teams can then obtain up-to-date information on train allocations to services and track key usage data such as mileage accumulation for fueling and maintenance.

The system integrates with a train operator’s maintenance management system of choice, streamlining rolling stock allocation and management. This seamless integration provides enhanced visibility to engineering and operation teams and minimizes outdated and time-consuming manual processes.

With Trimble D2M, fleet controllers have access to the data and functionality needed to efficiently manage rolling stock allocation. This includes fuel levels, distance to next maintenance examination, engineering restriction and the ability to set operational restrictions. This information can easily be accessed by a wide variety of stakeholders such as station or depot staff using mobile technology.

Trimble Rail Solutions general manager Tomas Larsson said: “The Trimble D2M helps rail operators avoid service disruption by managing rolling stock allocation information. Reports from the system enable the analysis of timetable adherence and service commitments to understand where variations have occurred so fleet performance teams can improve service efficiency.”
