Algiers Metro was inaugurated on 31 October 2011 after nearly three decades of development. It is Algeria's first metro system and the second metro transport system in Africa.
telent provides a wide range of network and communications services across a variety of industries, from transport to the emergency services.
With annual revenues of more than £350m, telent has unique scale, with a large engineering field force and a track record for quality and delivery that is second-to-none.
Some of the services telent provides to the rail sector are:
Management integration and control of assets (MICA) solutions
Since its launch back in 2006, telent‘s management integration and control of assets (MICA) station management system has evolved. It has been enhancing communication, help points, integrating CCTV, public address systems, passenger information displays, SCADA and building management subsystems, fire and intrusion detection systems and more, ever since.
telent Technology Services
An example of a physical security information management (PSIM) system, MICA is easy-to-use yet it still has the capability to integrate various applications and devices so they can be controlled through a single, customisable, comprehensive user interface.
MICA includes a digital voice announcer and sign controller, which supports various types of displays. It can be supplied as a complete solution or integrated with existing management systems and legacy equipment, or operated as either a thin or thick client, and with hot standby servers.
Systems brought together by MICA include information displays and digital voice announcements, access, security and fire notification systems, to provide simple, smart management.
Mobile / remote access
MICA uses interchangeable drivers with standard interfaces, such as OPC and XML, to manage new assets, legacy systems and other building applications. The latest MICA enhancement integrates Wi-Fi in order to go mobile, making it accessible to staff via handheld devices, such as iPads and iPods. This leaves personnel available to leave the office and move around, to speak to and assist customers, while remaining in complete control of the systems at all times.
It has been designed to aid the management of mass transit environments, where the operators are operational staff and not IT experts, and has been deployed on some of the busiest stations in the world such as Waterloo and Canary Wharf.
telent Voice – Perfect Digital Voice Announcement Systems
For more than 20 years, Voice Perfect has represented a first-class, personal service in the rail sector. We’re delighted this heritage is now part of the telent portfolio. With deployment around the world, our latest generation of DVAs combine exquisite audio quality and best in class ergonomics with the latest benefits of IP technology.

Asset management systems
telent‘s asset condition monitoring system (ACM) is designed to remotely monitor the critical components of an asset, in order to provide early warnings and predict failures. The company has developed user interface software, remote monitoring hardware and installed the system inside lifts, escalators and critical equipment rooms.
The system monitors the status of each asset through traffic light-style alerts with simple web-based trends and immediate text alerts. telent‘s system features a customised web interface that is accessible on PCs, tablets and smartphones, meaning users on-site can use the same system as their office-based colleagues.
telent‘s ACM solution can be implemented on access control systems, escalators, equipment rooms, lifts, pumps, motors, security, HVAC and environmental systems.
The ACM system features include:
- Asset data integration: multiple asset data sources can be combined to provide users with a unified view. Condition data can also be linked to existing enterprise systems
- Open communications technology whilst supporting legacy networks at the same time
- Rapid ROI: low installation and overall system costs allow for a quick return on investment
- Visual simplicity: graphical and data elements are combined into an easy-to-navigate web or mobile-optimised user interface
The ACM solution is suitable for existing and retrofit applications, where it can be easily integrated with existing systems. It also provides new monitoring tools without the need for additional networking.
telent also offers a comprehensive range of maintenance, system integration, SCADA, Power SCADA, software and support services.
