Smart safety solutions provider HIMA has secured a contract from rail supplier PT Len Industri (Persero) to upgrade safety technology at 25 railway stations in Indonesia.

The €1.8m deal is expected to strengthen HIMA’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has also recently established a new regional headquarters in Singapore in support of its growth strategy.

HIMA is set to install its commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) safety controllers at the selected stations under the arrangement.

The COTS open architecture safety controller systems are fully compliant with the SIL 4 level rules in accordance with CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization.

They can also be easily installed and quickly supplied with spare parts.

HIMA equipment uses open source communication architecture in order to enable the integration of its controllers with other associated equipment and configurations.

The architecture also allows PT Len Industri to integrate HIMA’s technology with its own legacy systems, as well as technology procured from third-party vendors.

“Decentralised interlocking and signalling systems offer greater flexibility and are not burdened by the unnecessary, overly complex functions that so often plagued proprietary systems.”

The vibration and shock resistant COTS safety controllers are certified by TÜV in accordance with CENELEC standards EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129 for deployment up to safety level SIL 4.
