The Government of Victoria in Australia has unveiled the designs of a train station at Cobblebank, which will serve Melbourne’s growing outer western suburbs.

The station will be situated near Ferris Road, between Rockbank and Melton, and is expected to serve a community of 55,000 people.

As part of the half a billion-dollar Ballarat Line upgrade, the station will be equipped with an accessible pedestrian overpass, bike parking areas, a bus interchange and car park.

Under its growth area infrastructure contribution (GAIC) initiative, The Government of Victoria has provided funding for the station, which is scheduled to commence commercial service once the Ballarat Line upgrade is complete.

“The Ballarat Line upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable services for growing communities along the line.”

Construction on the station is due to begin later this year, with preparatory works already taking place.

Victoria Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said: “The Ballarat Line upgrade will deliver more frequent and reliable services for growing communities along the line, including Cobblebank.
