Las Vegas Xpress (LVXI) operator X Train has acquired the Affiliated Passenger Car Fleet from United Rail for an undisclosed sum.
Affiliated Passenger Car Fleet is a group of privately owned vintage passenger rail cars which operated under Amtrak trains until the discontinuation of their service earlier this year.
X Train is expected to operate from Southern California to Las Vegas, US.
Las Vegas Xpress president Dianne David said: “We have assembled over 20 vintage passenger railroad cars in our fleet.
“We moved the car fleet to Las Vegas Xpress from United Rail now that we have a target date to run in mid-year 2019.
“This now gives us a fabulous retro fleet of cars from the classic era of railroading to include in our LA to Vegas consist.”
Las Vegas Xpress is a rail service business and operates speciality passenger trains from the US metropolitan areas to resorts and casino destinations. X Train is one of the three operating divisions of LVXI.
United Rail freight consolidator CEO Michael Barron said: “We decided to transfer the Affiliated Passenger Car Fleet to Las Vegas Xpress.
“The company needs these cars as they plan to run next year. This gives them control over the consist.
“United Rail has its hands full with its consolidation freight business. LVXI is a better home for the cars as we move forward.”
United Rail is involved in the purchase of short line railroads in both the passenger operations sector and freight operations.
