WiFi Spark is set to provide continuously connected Wi-Fi across the TransPennine Express (TPE) network, a UK-based rail operator.
The Wi-Fi solution will be available to the customers and staff of TPE from the second half of this year in all 19 stations and two depots.
Furthermore, WiFi Spark will install its high-speed, fully managed Wi-Fi solution at three other new sites in the future, which will enable internet connectivity for all of TPE’s intercity trains running between the North and Scotland.
Following the installation, the Wi-Fi solution will allow the passengers to work or connect with family and friends while travelling.
WiFi Spark founder and CEO Matt O’Donovan said: “WiFi Spark understands that customers want to be continuously connected throughout their journeys.
“With each of us leading increasingly busy lives, a continuously connected, fast and reliable Wi-Fi service can enhance the everyday experience of passengers through the use of exciting and innovative technology.

By GlobalData“This technology delivers products, services and solutions that offer tangible benefits to both customers and the industry as a whole.”
The latest Wi-Fi solution is designed to provide customers with a seamless and continuously connected Wi-Fi service from their arrival at the station to the moment they reach their destination.
Once customers log in for the first time, the service will continue to recognise their device and allow them back to the network automatically whenever they reach the station for up to 365 days.
After this period, the passenger will need to log in again to gain access to another 365 days of connectivity.
WiFi Spark intends to establish two separate secure networks; one will be used by the public and the other for TPE corporate usage.
