Programme management and construction consultancy firm Turner & Townsend will provide cost estimation, risk and claims management support as part of the Metrolinx Regional Express Rail (RER) Programme in Canada.
The five-year programme is part of the electrification project of the rapid transit system for the greater Toronto and Hamilton area in Ontario.
The cost estimation, risk and claims management support for the project management office (PMO) contract, awarded by environmental and engineering consultancy company CH2M, will enable the transformation of the fully operational rail network.
The electrification of the rapid transit system will increase capacity and reduce travel times.
The contractor has previously undertaken other Metrolinx projects, including the Union Pearson Express (passenger rail service between Pearson airport and downtown Toronto).
Turner & Townsend director in Canada Dominic Leadsom said: "By defining and implementing controls, processes and procedures through the PMO, we will work closely with CH2M and Metrolinx to deliver the successful roll-out of this network-wide programme."
