Shanghai Shentong Metro

Shanghai Shentong Metro has awarded a CNY808m ($130m) contract to CSR Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems joint venture to deliver Innovia APM 300 automated people mover (APM) system.

Of the total value of the contract, Bombardier’s direct share is valued at approximately CNY89m ($14m).

The 50-50 joint venture is controlled by Bombardier’s partner CSR Nanjing Puzhen.

The new urban APM system will extend Shanghai Metro Line 8 to Shanghai’s Pujiangzhen district.

The new 6.6km dual-lane elevated line with six stations will serve as an extension to the existing Shanghai Metro Line 8 and will connect the terminal station of Shendu Highway with the large residential district of Pujiangzhen.

The extension is scheduled to be opened in December 2017.

Under the deal, the joint venture will be responsible to supply the electric and mechanical (E&M) scope for the turnkey system.

The scope of work will also include delivery of 44 Innovia APM 300 vehicles, the Bombardier Cityflo 650 communications-based train control (CBTC) system, as well as the operations control centre.

The 44 Innovia APM 300 vehicles will be built in China, configured into 11 four-car trains and feature inter-car gangways.
