Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) and West Japan Railway Company (JR West) have unveiled the new Tokaido Sanyo Shinkansen Reservation App.
The free smartphone app can be used to purchase tickets for the Tokaido Sanyo bullet train line, which is the country’s main artery linking Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Hakata and other destinations.
Shinkansen is useful for travellers and business people visiting Japan and is claimed to offer high speed and convenience.
The app is also said to be a better choice for long distances as well as short day trips.
Shinkansen tickets may be purchased at the country’s station ticket offices and, using the new app, tickets can be booked and purchased easily from countries outside Japan.
Booking can be changed as many times as required without any additional charge.
