Duos Technologies Group has secured a contract via its wholly owned subsidiary Duos Technologies to develop a thermal vehicle undercarriage inspection system that can automatically detect hot spots on freight locomotives by utilising thermal imaging technology.
The system is set to be installed at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado, once completed.
Duos Technologies senior vice-president Felix Krupczynski said: “We are very excited to have the opportunity to advance our intelligent automated inspection portfolio for the rail industry within a world class research and technology testing centre.”
The company has devised the proprietary system design following extensive field testing, which will use thermal imaging technology to monitoring component health.
The system is intended to facilitate the automatic monitoring of locomotive components' thermal signatures and detect any malfunction or condition that does not meet the requirements of railroad operations.
It will identify and alert personnel when a component is found to be operating outside the expected temperature range.
The new technology is expected to identify excessive heat generated by any anomalies at an early stage in order to prevent major asset failures.
Duos Technologies Group CEO Gianni Arcaini said: “This is a natural expansion of our suite of intelligent technologies that we have successfully deployed for our transportation clients.
“Continuing to expand our technology portfolio and incorporating leading technologies as they come to market is consistent with our short and midterm strategic plan, and we expect this to have a positive impact on our revenue horizon.”
Duos Technologies Group is based in Jacksonville, Florida, and provides intelligent security analytical technology solutions that place emphasis on critical security, inspection and operations in the rail, petrochemical, healthcare and hospitality sectors.
