The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, US, plans to re-bid the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 project construction contract in September.

This move comes following completion of negotiations with the original bidders.?

In July, the city secured two bids for the Phase 2 construction contract.

The invitation for bid comprised the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 aspect, as well as other planned city improvements along the corridor of Gold Line.

"In July, the city secured two bids for the Phase 2 construction contract."

Among the improvements to be taken up include upgrades to traffic signals, stormwater, water and sewer, and aspects of the Frazier Avenue Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Project.

After reviewing the bids, it was determined that both bids had high costs, especially on traditional infrastructure items.

Even the low bid for construction placed the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 Project at $9.2m more than the $150m project budget.

The city plans to award a construction contract in November.
