Bombardier Transportation has entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with Chinese CSR Nanjing Puzhen to develop and manufacture Innovia vehicles for urban and airport transit systems in China.
The JV aims to introduce Bombardier’s Innovia Monorail and Automated People Mover (APM) technologies in the country, in order to keep up with its rapid urbanisation and demand for air travel.
Commenting on the deal, Bombardier Transportation systems division president Pierre Attendu said: "This agreement demonstrates the firm commitment of both parties to develop a long-term industrial partnership that addresses China’s urgent need for urban and airport transportation."
Innovia APM is currently operating across 25 locations worldwide, which includes an urban system in Guangzhou in the country.
The technology has also been implemented at the world’s three busiest airports in Atlanta, US; Beijing, China, and London Heathrow in the UK.
São Paulo, Brazil, and the new King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, are the other two areas where the advanced Innovia Monorail 300 system will be put to use.
