Ian Fugeman has joined the board of Firstco, the specialist controls and communications systems company, as a non-executive director.

Firstco chairman Mark Calnan said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Ian onto the board of Firstco. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing and delivering large infrastructure projects and the processes and people required to do so. His pedigree in delivering such projects is well-regarded throughout the industry and aligns well with Firstco’s own experiences in delivering technical solutions to similarly complex projects. We believe Ian’s appointment will add strength to the board as we continue to grow the company in 2011.”

Ian has worked with Firstco and its principals for well over 20 years on prestigious projects. These include the Heathrow Express Rail Link, where Ian managed the design and fit-out of the stations and tunnels for BAA, and subsequently on Heathrow’s mega-terminal 5 programme where Ian held the position of BAA head of rail and tunnels. At T5 Ian’s projects included the Airside road tunnel, the track transit system, extensions to the Heathrow Express and Piccadilly lines and associated sub-surface stations.

Most recently Ian has been employed by Crossrail as the engineering advisor where, amongst other senior roles, he has championed value management across the programme.

Ian Fugeman commented: “I have always looked on Firstco as a well-run company providing a quality service in a technically challenging environment. Their high level of client-focus with a ‘can-do’ attitude has resulted in repeat orders from Heathrow Express and BAA. Having worked with the principals of the company over many years I was very pleased to be invited to join the board and look forward to working with them to help deliver the next phase of their planned growth.”
