John Howes has been appointed as the business development manager for MTR Training. He will strengthen the existing rail client base and develop the non-rail activities of the business.
John joins from Catalis Rail Training where he was a divisional manager for various services; he brings with him significant experience of traction and rolling stock, health and safety, and competence assurance.
John joined BR in 1992 as a traction and rolling stock technician and has progressed through various roles including workshop supervisor and production manager in Central Trains, training and development for Maintrain, and then on to Catalis as contract leader, first line manager and then to divisional manager for health and safety, management and rail safety.
John says, “The shift in the rail market has certainly made training providers very competitive with the fast moving changes. MTR has a whole portfolio of products and services to offer, and working in partnership with the customer fits my personal values of getting it right first time, every time, making my decision to join MTR very exciting”.
Andy Morris, general manager of MTR adds, “John brings with him significant experience of training, assessment and competence management systems in the railway industry and will be leading our drive into new markets and the development of new services to meet the needs of our existing and new clients”.
