Rex Articoli Tecnici SA specialises track insulation materials for railway lines, with or without ballast, including rubber to metal, rubber to plastic and rubber to rubber components. Specific railway products include:
- Rubber boots, cellular rubber and special rail pads for ballast-free permanent way construction
- Rubber to metal and rubber to PTFE technical parts
- Joints, belts in all kinds of elastic materials
- Cellular rubber
Rex Articoli Tecnici SA is a Swiss company located in Mendrisio, the southern Italian speaking region of the country. Standing right in the middle of Europe, Mendrisio is situated directly on the most important south/north connection in Europe: the Gotthard line.
Rex has its own projecting team for elastic applications from CAD modelling, FEM simulation and compound development to production. By means of our sophisticated laboratory equipment, we are able to perform all kinds of material testing (mechanical, ageing) procedures.
The company was established in 1935 and has been certified by SQS according to ISO 9001 since 1990, and IRIS certification since 2010.
Ballast-free railway construction
Rex delivered its first rubber boots and microcellular plates for a ballast-free railway line in Switzerland in the early 70s. Since that date many tunnel projects have been equipped with Rex equipment, constituting a great level of experience and know-how.
Special materials are developed according to the special conditions. The components are tested and certified by different international institutes (Empa Switzerland, TH München, etc.) Rex’ internal compound development and production enables the firm to achieve all the most stringent technical requirements.
Rubber boots for PU light sleepers
By means of CAD modelling and FEM simulation, Rex is able to optimise the charge distribution on sleepers.
Rubber mouldings for the railway industry
Amongst the different rubber technical mouldings, Rex has a great experience in bonding elastomers to metal and to synthetic products (thermoplastics)/ CAD modelling and FEM simulation programs with a modern laboratory allow great flexibility and punctual results in the development of new components.
Swisscross rubber-concrete and fire protected level crossing
The new level crossing without connecting bar allows a much faster mounting. We can deliver crossings for 1435, 1524 and 1000mm gauge.
Please ask for our level crossing checklist. In this way we can make you a precise offer.
