Ritter Starkstromtechnik

RITTER Starkstromtechnik is a specialist manufacturer of switchgear devices for railway applications.

Switchgear components for connection applications

RITTER’s railway switches are designed for coupling or disconnecting applications of third-rail and overhead line systems, comprising disconnectors for direct currents, indoor applications or outdoor cubicles.

From the concept design to the planning, developing and manufacturing processes of individual switchgear devices, RITTER delivers customer-optimised solutions.

RITTER Starkstromtechnik supplies switchgear devices to the railway sector.
The On-Load RGL-type disconnector comprises a two-step contact system.
The RIT-type disconnector is tested in accordance with EN 50123-3 and is ideal for currents of up to 9,000A and 3.6kV DC.
RITTER supplied a special EDS-type earthing switch for tunnel applications for the Lötschberg Tunnel in Austria.
There are 990 RGL units installed in Stockholm on the new 276km-long network.

Third-rail and overhead-line disconnectors

With more than 7,000 units in operation worldwide, the On-Load RGL-type switch disconnectors are suitable for direct current applications on third-rail and overhead-line systems, for coupling or disconnecting purposes of the feeding systems.

The two-step contact system consists of main and arcing contacts, in combination with the arc chamber and an electro magnetic blowout arrangement, which guarantees a high-breaking capacity and a safe interruption of low currents.

Single and dual-pole versions of the On-Load disconnector are available for currents up to 6000A and 3000V.

Electric circuit disconnectors

The RIT-type disconnector is suitable to open and close electric circuits, negligible low currents, electric circuit that require connection or if there is no significant difference in the voltage between the electric circuits, which shall be separated.

In the open position, a visible isolating gap will be formed between all the poles of the disconnector. The insulation level refers to normal air conditions at sea level. For installation altitude above 1,000m will require lower insulation levels.

The RIT-type disconnector is tested in accordance with EN 50123-3 and is ideal for currents of up to 9000A and 3.6kV DC.

Earthing switches for rail applications

The ES-type earthing switches are designed as off-load indoor devices, whereas the EDS-type switches are on-load switches.

The switches are suitable for currents up to 36kV and 125kA are tested according to EN 50123-3 for Class E0, E1 and E2 vehicles.

Customised railway components

RITTER makes the most of new technical developments to create optimum-sized and customer-specified solutions, which is why it is always interested in getting involved with new projects and partners worldwide.

For instance, RITTER supplied a special EDS-type earthing switch for tunnel applications for the Lötschberg Tunnel in Austria.
