Simple inventions have always been the best. On first sight, the new 19-inch-compatible insertion frame for MEN’s box PCs may appear simple, but it has considerable advantages for even more flexible application possibilities.

Nineteen-inch-frame for more flexibility

Freely configurable interfaces combined with a CPU board with scalable performance, fast transformation of a Box PC into a Panel PC and different but always conduction-cooled housing sizes; these advantages of the modular Box PC family were not enough for MEN.

Using the new insertion frame, standard box PCs BC50M and BC50I as well as all customer-specific versions with the same housing size (250mmx220mmx44.1mm) can easily be integrated into a 19in rack, being the standard width and having 1U height. In order to ensure operation in the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, the frame is delivered with two heat sinks for installation at the sides of the Box PC.

MEN will more and more extend the modular Box PC product family. Customers can choose from standard CPU boards based on AMD APUs with strong graphics and later also on Intel processors.
Combined with the suitable I/O board, solutions are assembled for flexible use in vehicles, trains, aircraft and also in industrial applications. Possible interface configurations range from two or more DisplayPorts for demanding graphics applications, integration of wireless functions such as GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, WLAN, UMTS, GSM, HSDPA, EDGE or LTE using PCI Express Mini Cards and up to eight SIM cards, to the connection of CAN, Ethernet, USB and UART interfaces.

Compliance to EN 50155 and preparation for e1 certification is also as much a part of the product specification, if required, as are soldered and coated components for protection against shock and humidity.
