At InnoTrans 2010 Voith Turbo presented components which reduce operating costs, as well as fuel consumption and emissions – all under the motto ‘The Future of Rail Technologies’. Voith Turbo is making an active contribution to backing the growing need for higher mobility with sustainable technologies.

Voith Turbo introduced the new Gravita 15 BB. This is the second locomotive from the central driver’s cabin family. It is suitable for both shunting and mainline service and can thus be used universally. Other highlights of Voith Turbo’s presence at this year’s show were the aerodynamic front nose of the ZEFIRO 380 high-speed train, final drives for high-speed rail applications, plus the first Voith engine. With its two-stage turbocharger and cooled exhaust gas recirculation, the new rail engine achieves an output of 500kW and a torque of 2,750Nm. A special feature: the Voith engine already complies with the Stage III/B exhaust gas regulations.

Also new at InnoTrans were traction inverters from Voith Turbo for all power ranges. In future, Voith can cover the entire electro-mechanical drive system of a rail vehicle.

In addition, Voith Turbo introduced its concept study of a self-supporting cooling tower for locomotives, featuring a GFK housing and nano paint technology. A new CFK adapter coupling, new fibre compound rail vehicle heads of the ‘GALEA’ series for speeds of up to 200km/hr, as well as new crash buffers, underline the contribution of Voith Turbo components to the growing safety requirements in rail traffic.

In total, all exhibits from Voith Turbo focused on making the mobility change in the rail industry eco-friendly and sustainable. This was also made evident by the DIWAPack in hybrid version and the tool box EcoConsult.
