Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimisation (SCP&O), announced today that its customer Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori S.p.A. (NTV), Italy’s first private operator on the country’s high-speed rail network, has been shortlisted for the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards in the Energy, Utilities & Transport category.

NTV earned its place on the shortlist by submitting documentation of the successful implementation of Quintiq’s integrated fleet and workforce planning software, which went live in January 2012. Quintiq’s software enhanced the utilization of all operational resources, including real-time rescheduling and disruption management data, and resulted in a 94.4% on-time rate to the delight of more than 4 million passengers.

"Quintiq’s system helped us utilize our resources more efficiently, leading to improved service for our customers," said Paolo Ripa, COO at NTV. "Quintiq offered us the best solution that combined a flexible approach, an excellent methodology, with the capacity to support a project in the start-up phase."

"The recognition for NTV by the ESCE Awards is validation of the Quintiq integrated platform," said Arjen Heeres, COO at Quintiq. "We have had considerable success in the passenger rail industry working with NTV and other leading companies to optimize planning and manage disruptions swiftly and effectively to elevate punctuality rates to new heights."

In the next step of the judging process, NTV presented the previously submitted case study in-person to two judges. This provided an opportunity to expand upon the initial entry and explain the supply chain project in greater depth. The judges will announce the winners at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 6 November at the London Hilton.
