MEN’s surveillance audit has improved its score for IRIS certification for the eighth occasion, having first achieved the accreditation in 2009.

No deviations at IRIS Audit

In order to successfully acquire orders from the transportation market, the IRIS certification is of great importance. The train manufacturers associated to IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) commit to only place orders with subcontractors which have been certified according to the IRIS standards.

IRIS certification is based on the requirements of ISO 9001, and includes additional railway-specific requirements such as project, RAMS, and obsolescence management, as well as first article inspection.

Across all processes, the IRIS auditors attested a high or very high quality level, which led to a very good total result of 79% without deviations. MEN’s result is therefore significantly above the average results (63%) of all IRIS certified companies.

As of May 2017, the IRIS standard will be transformed into ISO/TS 22163:2017 to accommodate the strong dependence on the internationally accepted ISO 9001:2015 for quality management.
