Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has appointed the Mott MacDonald and SMEC FutureRail joint venture as technical adviser for the future stages of the ‘More Trains, More Services’ programme.

In seven years, passengers using Sydney’s rail have increased by a third and now account for around 50% of all public transport users in the city.

The JV will help deliver programme-wide transport modelling and planning, feasibility studies, strategic business case support, and definition design.

It will also provide support in final business case, concept/reference design, procurement assistance and delivery support, associated investment assurance, and configuration management gate submission.
