Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has appointed the Mott MacDonald and SMEC FutureRail joint venture as technical adviser for the future stages of the ‘More Trains, More Services’ programme.
More Trains, More Services aims to improve Sydney’s rail network, with increased capacity and more reliable services for customers.
In seven years, passengers using Sydney’s rail have increased by a third and now account for around 50% of all public transport users in the city.
The JV will help deliver programme-wide transport modelling and planning, feasibility studies, strategic business case support, and definition design.
It will also provide support in final business case, concept/reference design, procurement assistance and delivery support, associated investment assurance, and configuration management gate submission.
Mott MacDonald TfNSW key account leader Craig Burrell said: “We’re excited to have been awarded the More Trains, More Services – technical adviser role and look forward to delivering this vital programme, whilst minimising disruption to rail operations by using innovation and best practice in constructability.
