Bombardier Transportation is set to unveil its new MOVIA C30 metro train at Persontrafik 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The MOVIA C30 train is designed to be used on Stockholm’s red line and operated by public transport authority Storstockholms Lokaltrafik.

Trains will be supplied to Storstockholms Lokaltrafik as part of a Skr5.1bn ($771m) order placed to Bombardier Transportation in 2013. It includes 96 four-car MOVIA C30 metro trainsets, with an option for 80 more.

Bombardier Transportation will also present its battery-operated train solution, which charges its batteries from the overhead line while driving.

The zero-emission prototype exhibits the Bombardier Talent 3 electro-hybrid train, featuring four Bombardier Mitrac traction batteries and an energy-saving Mitrac traction converter 1500 with silicon carbide technology, which is designed and built in Sweden.

The converter has been successfully tested on a MOVIA C20 train on Stockholm Metro’s green line.

Bombardier Transportation’s current projects in Stockholm include the delivery of 40 FLEXITY City trams fitted with Vossloh Kiepe electrical equipment for Göteborgs Spårvägar in Gothenburg, and 40 high-speed regional ZEFIRO Express trains for operator Västtrafik.

Persontrafik 2018 runs from 22-24 October.
