Automatic Passenger Counting System

Railweight's train-weighing technology, called Weighline, has been used for determining the number of passengers on-board trains on the Metro SA de Santiago. Weighline supplies a variety of information in real-time for the purpose — among other things — of determining operating variables that impact on the quality of service and the overall efficiency of the Metro SA service.

The operating variable obtained from the system that is of most interest is passenger demand. Other operating variables determined by the system are passenger density, frequency, interval between trains, the percentage occupation of the rolling stock and the transport supply. This information is supplied in different forms for each train.
