Swiss train maker Stadler Rail has agreed to supply 30 new passenger cars to Azerbaijan Railways.
A CHF120m ($133.4m) supply contract was signed by both companies and has an option to deliver another 70 sleeping cars.

The order comprises 27 sleeper carriages and three dining carriages.
Stadler Rail Group owner and CEO Peter Spuhler said: "This order means we have gained a foothold in another CIS market. The development of new products, in addition to tapping into new markets, is very important to us. This is the only way to ensure our Swiss plants will be working to capacity in the medium term."
As part of the contract, Stadler will supply five types of coaches that will be manufactured at its Altenrhein plant in Switzerland, as well as spare parts.
The delivery of rail cars is expected to take place between mid-2016 and mid-2017.

By GlobalDataStadler’s rail cars will be equipped with DB AG/RAFIL Type V system of adjustable wheelsets, which will allow the trains to run on routes with different track gauges.
The cars are compliant with European standards and will be operated on the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will link Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The new line is scheduled to open in 2015.
