Prism Alliance, which is made up of Laing O’Rourke and Aecom together with the Public Transport Authority (PTA), has started construction of a railway station at the new Stadium site being built in Perth, Western Australia.
Stadium station is scheduled to be completed in 2017 in time for extensive commissioning and testing before it opens in time for the start of the 2018 Australian Football League (AFL) season.

Western Australia transport minister Dean Nalder: "This government is focused on delivering a smart transport solution for the new Perth Stadium through a series of integrated pieces of infrastructure, including bike paths, a pedestrian bridge and the new train station.
"The forward works for the station began more than a year ago, and involved ‘slewing’ or relocating the tracks in line with the location of the new station."
Construction cost of the station will be A$40m ($29.4m), with an additional A$60m ($44m) will be invested on the 11km of complex overhead wiring and track to support the infrastructure.
Stadium station will have six platforms, 11 lifts, 11km of tracks and 340t of steel will be required to build the concourse.

By GlobalDataIn the coming months, two big tower cranes will be erected on the site to allow the Prism Alliance to start work on four of the platforms and a second set of tracks.
Once the second set of tracks is built, trains on the existing Armadale/Thornlie Line will be swapped over to use the new tracks, so work on the final two platforms can be completed.
