UK's Virgin Trains has launched its new Explorer app to help customers navigate and locate friends, shops, and platforms.

International customers can use the in-station navigation app for real-time automatic sign translation to read them in their own language.

The app also provides planned updates such as messaging capability, baggage tracking and real-time travel data.

The features of Virgin Trains’ Explorer app, which will enable independent navigation for the visually impaired, include audio cues guiding customers around the station, routing through optimum paths, and location-based notifications.

Initially, the company plans to launch the app at King’s Cross prior to rolling-out to all stations on the East Coast route later this year.

"By offering an easy and accessible way to navigate stations, we hope that our customers can enjoy all that stations have to offer."

Virgin Trains will use the initial roll out to gather customer feedback on the app and further plans to integrate the feedback into future updates.
