Siemens - Stationary and Dynamic Rail Vehicle Testing

Siemens' 'complete mobility' concept offers sustainable mobility solutions that link various transportation systems in order to transport people and goods with greater efficiency, safety and environmental friendliness.

Siemens is the only company worldwide with all the necessary competencies – from operating systems for railways and road traffic, traction power supplies and rolling stock for mass transit, regional and mainline services, to airport logistics and postal automation.

Integrated services – Wegberg-Wildenrath test and validation center

We have an infrastructure in line with the highest technological standards. We can subject practically all standard-gauge and meter-gauge vehicles operating with any traction power supply, as well as all systems and components, to tests that are typically needed for your railways – around the clock, 365 days a year.

Certified-quality testing for any rail vehicle, technology, system or customer

As a certified test facility with state-of-the-art equipment, our test center actively contributes to ensuring safety and safeguarding quality. There is almost nothing that we cannot test, whether statically or dynamically - even for high-speed, long-distance, regional or urban traffic. The Wegberg-Wildenrath test and validation center is a certified and accredited laboratory for railway-specific tests.

State-of-the-art infrastructure at the center includes:

  • Turn-and-tilt table
  • Slope facility
  • Acoustic measuring station

All of Europe on only 6km

Our site is superbly equipped to meet all your particular requirements. On 28km of track, you can test mass transit, regional and mainline trains under field conditions. By dividing the large test oval into two feeder sections, we can also simulate system changes with ease and at short notice. Voltage gaps or sudden voltage jumps are just some of the aspects that play an important role. Best of all, we can simulate international railway traffic on only 6km of track, which means a border crossing every 3min.

High-standard testing and validation

Stationary tests – the vehicles are coupled together in the train formation buildings on three 75m tracks or on nine 220m tracks. All electrical and mechanical parts of these trains are then tested at standstill.

Dynamic tests – after stationary testing, the vehicles can be examined while in motion on the track. Tests for the mechanical part as well as for the electrical part of the vehicle can be carried out under realistic as well as extreme operating conditions.

On request, we also offer our customers a highly varied, all-inclusive service package. If requested, we can organize the transfer of your vehicles and equipment to and from our test center. This considerably reduces the amount of effort you have to put into coordination and organization.
