Ensuring the fire protection of railroads is of utmost importance due to the potential risk it poses to human life and property.

These risks exist in both public and private operations, and the resulting downtime and replacement costs of a damaged locomotive, train or rail infrastructure emphasise the need for a reliable and durable fire suppression solution. Unfortunately, these fires are often unpredictable and difficult to avoid.

However, in recent years, there has been a significant increase in awareness of this issue, leading to more regulation and recommendations for automatic fire suppression as a practical and cost-effective solution.

The areas most prone to rail fires include electric drives, diesel fuel and electric engine compartments, hybrid battery stations, hydraulics, electric control cabinets, and braking mechanisms of locomotives, with cylinder heads and oil filter chambers being particularly vulnerable.

The limited space and heavy wear and tear of these vehicles, coupled with the constant vibrations, changes in humidity and temperature, and dusty and dirt-filled tracks, make Aero-X® fire suppression systems an ideal solution for the rolling stock and rail infrastructure industry.
