Texas Central has signed an agreement with Spanish train operator Renfe for the operation of the Texas high-speed passenger train project.

The deal formalises Renfe as the strategic operating partner of the 200mph high-speed train that will connect North Texas, Brazos Valley and Houston in the US.

The Texas high-speed train is expected to complete a trip in 90 minutes.

Renfe operates trains that cover 7,500 miles of both passenger and freight tracks.

Salini Impregilo and its US-based subsidiary The Lane Construction is also involved in the project. The Japanese Shinkansen system will be implemented, which is proven to be punctual and safe.

The Lane Construction will look after the civil construction consortium that will build the rail line, while US-based construction group Bechtel will act as project manager to support Texas Central during development and implementation of the project.
