XIZI Otis

Xizi Otis Elevator has secured a contract to maintain all 110 Otis escalators installed at Beijing South Railway Station in China.

According to the company, the contract was re-awarded due to its Back-Home Inspection programme, which provides complimentary inspection services for the company’s elevators and escalators in China.

Launched in 2014, the Xizi Otis’ programme offers counselling and support services to Beijing South Railway Station, in order to improve the reliability of its escalators.

A subsidiary of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company, Xizi Otis is a part of Otis, a unit of United Technologies.

Mainly serving high-speed trains, Beijing South Railway Station was opened in August 2008. It replaced the old Beijing South station, known as Majiapu Railway Station, later renamed Yongdingmen Railway Station.

"The quality of escalator maintenance is essential to ensure passenger safety at all major transportation facilities with significant daily passenger flow."

Beijing South Railway Station is claimed to be one of the largest and busiest within China’s high-speed rail networks, covering 320,000m² in floor area.

The station integrates a Beijing subway station, bus hubs and taxi stands, into a single building.

All escalators equipped at the station have been supplied by Xizi Otis, which has also provided maintenance services for four years following its opening.

The company noted that the quality of escalator maintenance is essential to ensure passenger safety at all major transportation facilities with significant daily passenger flow.

The Back-Home Inspection programme promotes the original equipment manufacturers’ professional maintenance services to all Xizi Otis customers.

Since the launch of the programme, customers in nearly 30 provinces and municipalities have received complimentary elevator and escalator evaluations.

Xizi Otis has two manufacturing facilities, in Hangzhou and Chongqing, as well as a testing lab accredited by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNAS) and an R&D centre, which employs more than 120 engineers.
