US-based railroad operator Union Pacific has unveiled the AutoFlex railcar, built and designed at the company’s De Soto plant.

The 90ft-long multi-level railcar can be converted from two to three decks based on the requirement of vehicle transportation.

The railcars can be converted to two decks for larger vehicles, while smaller vehicles can be transported on three decks.

The railcar comes with a durable door edge system, improved tie-down chock systems and upgraded in-transit damage protection.

Union Pacific expects to manufacture 100 cars in 2011 and more than 200 cars in 2012.
