Skanska has won a SEK350m ($53m) contract from the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration (RIA) to modernise the railway junction in Plzen’s 3rd transit corridor.

The project will modernise the track sections Ceské Budejovice – Cheb and Prague – Domažlice.

It also includes reconstruction of the subways of Pilsen main station, which will be extended to Šumavská station and Železnicní station.

Under the project the bridge across the Radbuza River will be reconstructed, along with the Prokopova station and Vejprnická station as well as across Vejprnický creek.

The modernisation project will be funded by the State Fund for Transportation Infrastructure as well as co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund.

The project is expected to be completed in two and a half years.
