UK infrastructure firm Balfour Beatty has secured a £170m two-year extension to its Track Partnership contract for London Underground.

The company was appointed in 2010 on a contract, which included an option to extend for a further two years to deliver essential track renewal work across the London Underground network.

The contract extension means the Track Partnership, an alliance between Balfour Beatty Rail and London Underground, will continue until 2018.

Under the extension, Balfour Beatty will continue to provide design, labour and materials, as well as surveying, supervision and management of the works.

The scope of work will also include installation of points and crossings and ballasted track renewal along with associated drainage, signalling, traction power and conductor rail works.
