Dutch passenger railway operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) has signed a five-year extension with Nomad Digital for on-board Wi-Fi and passenger information services (PIS).

As part of the framework agreement, Nomad will deliver an upgrade to the on-board technology platform on NS’s Intercity train fleet.

The upgrade will deliver a common on-board technology platform across the NS fleet, which already uses Nomad Digital systems.

Nomad Digital EMEAI general manager Jean-Philippe Tissot said: "For the last five years, we have worked with NS to provide first-class, on-board technology services and information to Dutch passengers.

"This new agreement is testament to our ability to support NS in delivering cutting-edge passenger services in a consistent fashion."

The company provides wireless connectivity and ICT solutions to the rail sector and it boasts a rich suite of passenger and operational applications and services, which allows operators to improve the passenger experience, as well as deliver improved levels of reliability, safety and operational efficiencies.
