The UK’s Transport for London (TfL) has partnered with social networking service provider Twitter on a pilot passenger alert service to keep customers informed regarding delays on the London Overground, TfL Rail, and London’s underground Central and District lines.

In the first live travel information partnership entered by Twitter, users will be able to receive free instant alerts on their mobiles or computers at user-defined times.

German rail company Deutsche Bahn has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoU) with China Railway Rolling Stock (CRRC), a China-based rolling stone manufacturer, to continue to provide maintenance and repair services for the former’s high-speed multiple units.

Deutsche Bahn has also signed another MoU with DB Engineering & Consulting, making the latter a part of the consortium that works on a regional transport project in China.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has awarded an engineering services contract to CH2M entitling the latter company to prepare plans and specifications, develop cost estimates and perform improvement work on timber pile trestle Trinity Railway Express (TRE) bridge over Inwood Road, a major entry area of the Southwestern Medical District in Dallas, US.

US-based light rail line developer Purple Line Transit Partners has announced that it has received commitment for $874.6m in funding for the 16.2-miles long east-west light rail line, connecting Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, which is expected to be completed by March 2022.
