AB Transitio has subcontracted Stadler to deploy Teleste's passenger information system on-board 33 four-carriage double-decker Dosto trains that are set to operate around the Lake Mälaren area in Sweden.

Teleste will install intercommunications, public address and passenger information (PIS) systems, LED displays and TFT displays on the 33 trains under the deal, which also includes an option for 110 additional vehicles.

The new systems will display clear and visible passenger information via high-quality Mitron LED screens, as well as provide various automatic announcements and live messages throughout the train carriages.

San Francisco's Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project (PCEP) will receive a full funding grant of $647m from the US Federal Transit Administration as a part of the ongoing Caltrain modernisation programme.

The $1.98bn PCEP aims to electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco’s 4th and King Caltrain Station to the Tamien Caltrain Station.,and will convert old diesel locomotives to electric multiple units (EMU). 

It will also increase the number of trains operating in each direction to six per peak hour.

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has awarded a contract worth $40m to rolling stock manufacturer Wabtec for the installation of a positive train control (PTC) system.

"San Francisco's Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project will receive a full funding grant of $647m from the US Federal Transit Administration as a part of the ongoing Caltrain modernisation programme."

The agreement will see Wabtec install, test and commission its interoperable electronic train management system (I-ETMS) on 42 locomotives and cab cars operating on SFRTA-run Tri-Rail commuter rail service that connects Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach in Florida, US.

It will also provide a back-office server, wayside communications and signals, and a dispatch system, in addition to training and system integration services.

Rail transportation company Norfolk Southern Corporation (NSC) has announced a public offering of $300m worth of senior notes, which are due in 2027.

The notes carry a coupon rate of 3.15% and will mature on 1 June 2027.

China Railway Rolling Stock (CRRC) has placed an order for 15 MTU Series rail engines with Rolls-Royce.

The contractor will deliver 15 20V 4000 R43 engines, which are to be installed on KiwiRail-operated DL-class freight locomotives.

The units are EU Stage IIIA-compliant and are able to deliver 2,700kW of energy, while consuming less fuel than most standard engines.
